Safety
Dating should be exciting, not risky. These are our real, non-negotiable rules for staying safe.
Meeting in person
- Meet in public first. Choose a busy, public place for your first few dates: a cafe, restaurant, or event. Never invite someone to your home, or go to theirs, until you know them well.
- Tell a friend. Share where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to be back. Check in during the date.
- Keep your own transport. Drive yourself or use a rideshare so you can leave whenever you want.
- Stay sober enough to stay in control. Watch your own drink, and never leave it unattended.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, leave. You never owe anyone an explanation for prioritizing your safety.
Staying safe online
- Never send money or financial information. Anyone who asks for money, gift cards, wire transfers, or bank details is running a scam. Report them immediately.
- Keep personal details private at first. Do not share your home address, workplace, or full name until you trust the person.
- Keep conversations on the site. Moving to text or another app too fast is a classic scammer move. A genuine person will not mind staying here.
- Watch for red flags: professions of love within days, excuses to never video chat, requests to keep the relationship secret, or stories that keep changing.
Reporting and blocking
Every profile and conversation includes report and block options. Use them:
- Block removes the member from your discover feed, matches, and messages. They will not be notified.
- Report sends their profile and the relevant messages to our moderation team for review.
What we do about reports: we review every report, investigate the reported account, and take action up to and including permanent termination. Reports involving suspected illegal activity, including exploitation or trafficking, are referred to law enforcement. Underage accounts are removed immediately.
18+ only
DatingCenters is for adults 18 and older, full stop. If you believe someone on the site is under 18, report them as "underage" and we will investigate right away.
Crisis resources
If you or someone you know is in crisis or experiencing abuse, help is available 24/7 in the US: call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline). The National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
